BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) --- United Way of Southern Kentucky helped kids at The Family Enrichment Center celebrate National Read Across America Day on Friday.
Volunteers from United Way read to children at the Wee Care program, which is part of the Family Enrichment Center.
The program has 40 students in five classrooms and program Director Stephanie Taylor says she was happy that the volunteers were able to stop by.
"We have done activities all week with Dr. Seuss and today United Way sent us three volunteers and we are very thankful to them," said Taylor.
Read Across America Day was created in 1998 to encourage kids to read, and it always takes place on or near March 2nd, which is Dr. Seuss's birthday.
