WKU Basketball sophomore Marek Nelson was recently arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Nelson was arrested early Sunday morning, December 23, and charged by the Warren County Sherrif's Office with DUI, along with being charged with failure to illuminate headlamps and not having a registration receipt.

In a statement, WKU Basketball Spokesperson Zach Greenwell says that "we are aware of the situation and handling it internally at this time". WKU basketball Head Coach Rick Stansbury is expected to comment on Nelson's status during his media availability Friday.

Nelson has played in all 12 games for the Hilltoppers this season, starting in six of the games, and is averaging 3.0 points and 2.1 rebounds per game this season.

WKU hosts 15th-ranked Wisconsin Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at E.A. Diddle Arena.
