ATLANTA, Ga. (WBKO) --- Centre junior Perry Ayers has been named the Southern Athletic Association Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.
The Bowling Green, Ky., native and former Bowling Green Purples standout averaged 23.5 points per game as Centre earned road wins at Millsaps (84-55) and Birmingham-Southern (84-74) to earn a spot atop the conference standings.
Ayers drained a season-high 30 points in Friday’s rout at Millsaps, hitting 11 of 19 overall and 6 of 11 from 3-point range. He also tied a career high with nine rebounds and added three assists.
Sunday, Ayers followed with a 17-point effort in a comeback win over the Panthers, scoring 12 in the second half. He went 6-for-12 and hit five free throws, finishing in double figures for the eighth time in nine games.
The Colonels return to action Friday at home against Millsaps, with tip scheduled for 7 p.m. Central time.
