Conference USA will hold its 2017 postseason basketball tournaments in Birmingham, Ala., a source told WBKO on Wednesday.
Athletic directors from league members voted in favor of the site Wednesday during the conference's annual spring meetings in Destin, Fla. The other finalist in the vote was El Paso, Texas.
Birmingham must be approved by league member presidents in June.
Conference USA has utilized Bartow Arena (8,508) on the campus of Alabama-Birmingham and Legacy Arena (capacity 17,654) inside the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex for the league's postseason event in 2015 and 2016.
Middle Tennessee won the 2016 men's title game (by beating Old Dominion in front of 5,519 fans) and UAB won the 2015 championship (by beating Middle Tennessee in front of 8,279 fans).
Middle Tennessee won the 2016 women's championship game by beating Old Dominion and Western Kentucky beat Southern Mississippi in the 2015 title contest. Attendance was not reported for either event.
Dates, times and broadcast information is expected to be announced at a later date.
