South Warren Football Advances To Class 5A State Finals

CRESTWOOD, Ky. (WBKO) --- South Warren High School earned its second KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl State Championship Game berth in the past four seasons thanks to the Spartans defeating South Oldham 31-10 in a Class 5A state semiifinals matchup in Crestwood.

Quarterback Gavin Spurrier threw three touchdown passes for the victorious Spartans while running back Cameron Harrison rushed for 188 yards and a touchdown.

Notre Dame commit Jacob Lacey added two sacks for South Warren.

The Spartans' last state finals appearance was in 2015,, when South Warren won the Class 4A state title.

The Spartans will take on Covington Catholic in the state title game on Sunday, December 2, at 1 p.m. Central at Kroger Field In Lexington.
