BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) --- Barren County High School captured its first girls basketball region championship in 12 years as the Trojanettes defeated Bowling Green 47-35 in the championship game of the 4th Region Tournament Tuesday night at E.A. Diddle Arena.
Elizabeth Bertram led Barren County with 16 points. Senior forward McKenzie England added 10 points, five rebounds, and five assists for the victorious Trojanettes. Bailey Pedison scored eight points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds for the Trojanettes.
The Lady Purples, which finished the season 26-8, were led by Keyozdon Jones, who scored 11 points, and T''Alla Brown, who added 10 points.
Barren County is now 31-4 and will play Pikeville on Thursday, March 14, at the Sweet Sixteen Tournament at Rupp Arena in Lexington.
