The Western Kentucky men's basketball team will begin a new four-year series against Louisville starting in 2019.

The Hilltoppers and Cardinals will be meeting for the 80th time when the rivalry is renewed at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on a date yet to be determined. The 2020 game will be played in Louisville, the 2021 game will be played in Bowling Green and the 2022 game will be played in Louisville.

Louisville has won seven straight dating back to 2008, a 68-54 win by WKU in a game also played in Nashville. The Tops haven't beaten U of L in Louisville since 2000 and haven't beaten the Cards in E.A. Diddle Arena since 1950.

Rick Stansbury, entering his third year at WKU, has never coached against Louisville.

Western and Louisville first met in 1926 and the Cardinals lead the overall series 40-39.
