WKU loses to Austin Peay for first time since 1997

Senior middle Rachel Anderson racked up 17 kills during Western Kentucky's five-set loss at Austin Peay on Tuesday.

The Lady Toppers (14-8) grabbed victories in the first and fourth sets as the final scoreline read 26-24, 23-25, 16-25, 25-15, 10-15.

Austin Peay (18-3) beat WKU for the first time since 1997.

Anderson had 17 kills off a season-high 43 swings. The senior added six blocks, a dig and an assist. Sophia Cerino marked the second Lady Topper with double-digit strikes, finishing with 13. Lauren Matthews added nine kills.

Taylor Bebout drew the start at setter but gave way to Mary Martin. The facilitators finished with 16 and 36 assists, respectively.

Payton Frederick led the Lady Topper defense with 21 digs while Darby Music hit double figures as well with 13.

Western Kentucky returns to E.A. Diddle Arena at 6 p.m. Friday to host North Texas.
