Western Kentucky is recruiting Mamoudou Diarra, WBKO confirmed Tuesday.

Diarra is a 6-foot-9, 205-pound forward from 22 Feet Academy in Greenville, S.C., who had previously signed with Washington. He has reportedly asked to be released from his letter of intent after UW fired Lorenzo Lomar and hired Mike Hopkins.

Richard Gatewood, Diarra’s coach at 22 Feet, told WBKO that Diarra wants to visit WKU in the coming weeks.

Diarra scored 14.6 points per game, brought in an average of 5.7 rebounds and blocked 1.9 shots per contest for a 22 Feet Academy team that went 22-7 this year. Diarra previously played at St. Louis Christian Academy in Missouri.

The Mali native is considered a three-star prospect and is the No. 3 rated player in South Carolina. He reportedly holds scholarships offers from Cincinnati, Colorado, Kansas State, Marquette and Missouri, among others.
