Western watches 57 game conference home match winning streak end in loss to Rice

Despite three Lady Toppers posting double-digit kills on the day, Western Kentucky dropped a four-set battle to Rice on Sunday at E.A. Diddle Arena.

Rachel Anderson (13), Lauren Matthews (13) and Sophia Cerino (10) all finished with double-digit kills while Darby Music (18) and Payton Frederick (11) added double-digit digs.

WKU fell to 12-6 and is now 3-1 in league play. Rice improved to 12-4 and 3-0 in CUSA matches. With the win, Rice snapped the Lady Toppers’ 57-consecutive conference home-win streak.

Western heads to Marshall for a 10 a.m. CDT match Friday.
