A courthouse covered in pink in support of Gabbi Doolin, housed the man accused of killing her for a few short tense hours Monday afternoon.

Timothy Madden limped into Allen County District Court for an arraignment Monday where he appeared for the first time alongside his lawyer Travis Lock.

Brian and Amy Doolin sat with family literally feet away from the man accused of raping and killing their seven year old last week.

An extremely large police presence surrounded the inside of the courtroom, along with a wave of media.

As soon as Madden stepped foot in the court room, Gabbi Doolin's mother began to cry and it only grew worse as Judge Martha Harrison read the charges of Rape, Kidnapping, Sodomy, and Murder out loud.

All charges Madden pleaded not guilty to.

"One of the reasons that we have such a wonderful justice system, is that every human being that is accused of a criminal offense has the right to due process. No matter how heinous that crime may be. With the right to due process in the context of a criminal case, means the right to a fair trial. Most important the right to the presumption of innocence. Again, at this time it is way too early for us to comment on what the evidence may, or may not be," said defense attorney Travis Lock.

Members of the Madden family were also in court but were kept across the room from the Doolins. Each group entered and left the courtroom at separate times with security escorts.

Timothy showed very little emotion, but Judge Harrison had to hold back tears on more than one occasion as she read Madden his rights.

He'll appear in Allen District Court again next Wednesday, December 2, for a preliminary hearing.
