BEAN STATION, Tenn. (WVLT) - Grainger County Sheriff James Harville told WVLT News Thursday that two tractor-trailers containing more than 40 thousand pounds of beef each had been stolen from Southeastern Provisions, a slaughterhouse in Bean Station.

Harville said Southeastern Provisions contracts with a trucking company, which has its own subcontracting agreements with other trucking companies.

The sheriff said, about the theft, that it appears a fake company claiming to be a contractor picked up the two shipments of 80 thousand pounds of beef.

The company in question, according to a police report obtained by WVLT News, is List Trucking Sales. According to the report, List Trucking did not respond to any calls about what had happened from the contractor, MDS Logistics.

“The information provided by List Trucking Sales to MDS Logistics also appears to be false as their information can not be verified,” the report said.

The beef has still not been found.

Harville said the investigation is ongoing.
