Clark County superintendent addresses arrests of two school board members

Howard says allegations are not related to the district and board lacks authority to remove members

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WKYT) - Clark County Superintendent Dustin Howard issued a statement after Kentucky State Police arrested two Clark County school board members following a months-long investigation into the Winchester Youth Soccer League’s finances.

Police arrested Ben Dorsey and Ashley Ritchie-Rowland this week, according to the script. Court documents said there were more than $70,000 in unauthorized transactions. The two are former board members of the league.

In his statement, posted on the district’s social media, Howard said he was saddened to learn about the arrests and said the allegations are not related to the school district.

Howard said the district and other board members do not have the authority to remove Dorsey and Ritchie-Rowland from their school board seats. He said the state attorney general would have to get involved.
