LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT/Gray News) - A Kentucky mayor is being sued by American Express for allegedly defaulting on an owed balance.

In a lawsuit filed in Laurel Circuit Court, American Express National Bank names BC Recycling LLC and owner Randall Weddle as defendants.

Weddle is also currently the mayor of London, a city about an hour and a half away from Lexington, after officially taking office in 2023.

According to court records, an American Express Business Gold Card statement reads the account in question as having a balance of $713,851.76, along with a note that the account is in default, with the full balance being due.

American Express argues Weddle and the company agreed to the card terms by using the account, then failed to make the required payments.

The bank is asking a judge for a money judgment for the full amount due, plus court costs.

The defendants listed in the case did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
