‘Heartbroken’ Lionel Richie postpones shows following illness during show
(Gray News) - Lionel Richie postponed the two shows following a visit to the hospital during a show in St. Paul, Minnesota, on June 24.
Richie, who had been performing with Earth, Wind & Fire on tour, reportedly had to sit down while singing “Dancing on the Ceiling.”
He did not return from intermission and was instead taken to the hospital.
His shows on June 26 in Chicago, Illinois, and June 27 in Columbus, Ohio, were postponed, Live Nation Chicago announced on social media.
His next show will take place on June 30 in Pittsburgh.
“Lionel is heartbroken to postpone these two shows and cannot wait to be back performing for his fans,” the post read, in part.
Rescheduled dates were not yet made available.
Richie’s diagnosis was not immediately revealed.
