Campbellsville couple claims winning $50K Powerball ticket
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - For the second time in as many weeks, Kentucky has produced a $50,000 Powerball winner.
Melvin and Donna Bradley of Campbellsville have claimed last week’s $50,000 Powerball prize.
The Bradley’s said they learned of their win from a post on the Kentucky Lottery’s Facebook page.
“We had a mutual friend of ours post on Facebook that there was a $50,000 winner in Campbellsville,” Melvin said.
Donna said she asked which store her husband had purchased his tickets from and quickly began connecting the dots.
“I said, ‘Did you get some tickets?’ and he said, ‘Yeah!’” Donna recalled. “So, I said, ‘Well, give them here – I need to check them!’”
According to lottery officials, she checked two tickets before coming to the third, where she realized this was the winning ticket.
“I started matching the numbers,” she said, in a release. “I was like, ‘I think he won $50,000!’ So, I opened my lottery app and scanned the ticket, and it said ‘Congratulations!’”
The couple received $36,250 after taxes, and T‑MART will receive $500 for selling the winning ticket.
The current Powerball jackpot is estimated at $87 million. The next drawing will take place Monday, April, 20 at 11 p.m. EST.
The 10 times Power Play multiplier will be available for play since the advertised jackpot is below $150 million.
